CAMERA WORK presents: Andreas Mühe – Showcase 2

From 23 January to 6 March, 2010 the gallery CAMERA WORK shows the works of photographer Andreas Mühe.

The shots of the photographer, who was born in 1979, are described as romantic and mystical, but sometimes also as difficult and mysterious. F.C. Gundlach is a dedicated promoter of Andreas Mühe. In cooperation with CAMERA WORKS he curated this exhibition.

F.C. Gundlach about the photographic concept in Andreas Mühe’s work:
‘Andreas Mühe, who was born in 1979 in the former Karl-Marx-Stadt, has created a work of extraordinary consequence in his short career. He uses the camera technology virtuously, arranges sophisticated lighting concepts and has worked for the most important magazines in just a few years. His portraits and group pictures which are mainly taken with a large-format camera are staged to the last detail. The portrayed persons trust him, their individuality appears on the pictures, close and uncompromisingly honest.

Reduced and focused on the essentials his portraits show artists such as Markus Lüpertz, Jonas Burgert, Daniel Brühl or Hannah Herzsprung, but also writers and politicians such as the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel or George Bush, Helmut Kohl and Michail Gorbatschow.

Often his subjects are photographed in overwhelming architecture or landscape. The static image compositions convey dignity and power.

Andreas Mühe photographs for renowned magazines, agencies and companies. His series were and still are published on a regular basis in journals such as Die Zeit, Kulturspiegel, Monopol, Der Spiegel, Stern, SZ-Magazin, Park Avenue or Vanity Fair.
